Head Coach – Adam Ward
The 23 was set up by Adam Ward in September 2020. Adam is a former Head of PE and Sports Coaching lecturer and is currently actively coaching across multiple environments. He is currently completing the Great Britain Advanced Coaching Programme and holds coaching qualifications across a variety of alternative sports including rugby, cricket, trampolining and swimming.
Adam Ward is head coach for England over 45’s, GKT Men’s 1st, (Kings College Medics) and an assistant coach at HC Knole Park. As well as working within the club system, Adam also works within the player pathway for England Hockey at the Weybridge Performance Centre and has extensive experience working within the county set up with Surrey Hockey Association. In addition, Adam works as a hockey coach at Sevenoaks School in Kent.
Adam believes in a blended approach to coaching which focuses on technical development as well as tactical development dependant on the stage or requirements of each athlete. Utilising small sided games in addition to isolated and block practices to ensure athletes have the best opportunity to master skills and techniques and grow in confidence to execute the most difficult skills under pressure.
